ESSENTIAL SUPPLIESOPERATIONAL UPDATE: MARCH 2026
In May 2024, Northern Diné Relief Effort (NDCVRE) operations were suspended. In July 2025, limited relief efforts resumed in collaboration with Roof Butte Search and Rescue. As of March 2026, NDCVRE is no longer operational. This site is being maintained as a permanent historical record of community resilience during the 2020–2025 crisis years. It stands as an archival tribute to the networking capabilities of our communities, and to Eric Trevizo, who served as the beating heart of this mutual-aid network. Beyond the distribution of life-sustaining supplies, Eric served with Shiprock ALERT (later Shiprock Search & Rescue). His coordination of missing persons searches in the most desolate and under-resourced areas of the Shiprock Agency—embodied the active and protective forms of community. He bridged the gap between official emergency response and the families who felt forgotten, ensuring that no one was left behind. Following a debilitating stroke in 2024 that has profoundly impacted memory-related functions, Eric’s legacy remains the foundation of this record. It is a testament to the human intelligence, tactical expertise, and ancestral stewardship that sustained our 20 Northern Navajo Agency communities throughout this modern era of profound community change. Last Updated for Archival Preservation: March 2026.

Who We Are
Northern Diné Relief Effort (formerly Northern Diné COVID-19 Relief Effort ) is a volunteer coalition network effort serving 20 Northern Navajo Nation Agency communities, centered in Shiprock, the largest chapter community on the eastern half of the Navajo Nation. The effort came together and operated continuously from March 26, 2020 - May 2024, taking on coordination of community-based networks that incorporated leadership of team members of Shiprock Search & Rescue, (formerly Shiprock ALERT). The target from the beginning has been provision of resources for community self-reliance in finding and helping those in most need, and home deliveries to those lacking phone/internet or otherwise needing extraordinary support in the most desolate areas. Relief primarily addressed COVID, continuing after COVID to maintain interlocking aid networks of donors and recipients based on a mile-to-mile and widening circle (or wheel) framework. Coordination efforts through NDCVRE were suspended with the sudden illness of our volunteer relief leader, Eric Trevizo. As of July 2, 2025, very limited relief operations may resume in collaboration with Roof Butte Search & Rescue.
